Find Your Ride

Selecting the right type of bike and - equally as important - the right size bike, will set you up for years of enjoyable riding. Our team works with you to recommend bikes that address your specific cycling goals - whether you’re commuting to work or planning an epic adventure.

  • Customers looking to spend a significant time off-road, exploring trails should look at gravel and mountain bikes.

  • If you plan to primarily use your bike for getting to and from work or school, most hybrid, fitness, or commuter/city bikes should work for you - but don’t rule out a “gravel” bike for your daily ride!

  • If long stretches of pavement are your jam, you’ll want a dedicated road bike. A lightweight, efficient road bike will help you tackle miles with comfort and ease. “Gravel” bikes can also cover road miles at a pretty good clip and will provide some extra versatility.

  • Looking to lessen your reliance on the car? Cargo bikes offer ample carrying capacity, for kids, groceries, or both!

Marin Fairfax Series

Year after year, the Marin Fairfax ranks as a best seller at Durham Cycles. It’s comfortable, light, and is ready for fender and rack installation, making it a perfect choice for students and employees at Duke University.

But don’t just take our word for it. Check out New York Times’ Wirecutter review of The Marin Fairfax.

Jamis Renegade Series

For gravel and touring fans, the Jamis Renegade is a really fun ride and has no problem doing triple duty: commute, adventure, tour. (Rinse and repeat!) Bicycling Magazine agrees.

Yuba Kombi

The Yuba Kombi won’t just replace your car for short trips, it will out-perform it! Drop off the little ones at the front door of school while the other parents sit in a 30-minute-long line of cars. Get in and out with your groceries while others are still looking for a place to park!
