Your Bike Is in Good Hands.
Protect your investment by keeping your bike in good shape. Combined, our team has well over 100 years’ experience fixing machines. (A couple of us are really old!) Beyond that, we’re zealous about quality and safety!
The Durham Cycles Difference: Service Commitment
HONEST ASSESSMENTS. You can trust we’ll provide an honest, no-cost, estimate with your satisfaction as the goal. We can price out the basics, “the works,” or both.
HIGH SAFETY STANDARDS. We’ve designed our service protocols and safety checks to make sure that you get the highest level of service, every time. Our safety protocol includes a second mechanic inspection before your bike leaves the shop.
TRAINING. Bike technologies evolve rapidly. Our team stays up-to-date on the latest tech.
WORK WARRANTIES. Depending on the service, we warranty our work for 7-30 days. We’ll let you know when you check in your bike what to expect.
Flat Tires
Don’t have the time or tools to change your own flat? No problem, we’re happy to help. We can usually change flat tires on a walk-in basis.
Gear & Accessory Fitting
There are so many ways to customize a bike and make it your own. We can help install fenders, cargo racks, new pedals, and so much more. Let us know what you need and we can work up a quote.
E-Bikes
We can service many brands of e-bikes, but not all, so it’s a good idea to call before you visit. When you bring your e-bike in for service, you must bring in the battery key.
Wheel Building (In House)
While there are lots of great “off-the-shelf” wheel options, nothing beats a wheel that is purpose built for your needs and riding style.
Tune Ups
Periodic tune-ups will extend the life of your bike and its components. When you bring your bike in, we’ll assess it and recommend a-la-carte services or a tune up, whichever is most cost effective.
Build a Bike
Do you have a bike you need us to build? Our experienced team can make sure your bike is properly and safely assembled. Call or visit for an estimate. See what goes into building a bike at Durham Cycles.
Suspension Service & Setup (In House)
Most suspension manufacturers recommend service every 50 hours. We perform most 50 and 200 hour services “in-house” for quick turn-around. We contract with outside vendors for specialty services.
Mechanical & Electronic Shifting
Our service technicians are well trained on all shifting systems, old and new. Whether it’s a classic Sturmey-Archer 3spd or the latest in electronic shifting from Shimano, Sram, or Campy, we’ve got you covered!
Brake Adjustment & Bleeds
It’s imperative to have your brakes working well to stay safe out there! Whether you have rim or disc brakes, we’ve got you. We’re certified Shimano T.E.C. Hydraulic Disc Brake technicians.
1
BRING YOUR BIKE IN
We pride ourselves on giving honest and accurate estimates for bike services. To do so, we’ll need to see your bike for a quick assessment.
Working up a service quote is FREE and can usually be done while you wait.
2
SCHEDULE YOUR SERVICE
Our service technicians will let you know when they can complete the repairs. In some cases, repairs can be done same day. Significant services like tune-ups may require you to leave the bike with us or to schedule an appointment for the day we can complete the repairs.
3
RIDE WITH CONFIDENCE
Now that your bike is in ship-shape, it’s time to hit the road or the trails and enjoy a smooth ride. Remember we warranty a flat tire change for 7 days and all other repair work for 30 days. If you have any issues, please let us know!
Please note: Service times depend on our service volume. If you need your bike serviced before an important event, please plan at least 2-3 weeks ahead, especially during busy spring and summer months.
If you have an appointment, it’s ideal to have your bike brought in the day before or right at store opening.
On very rare occasions, we may refuse to service a bike if we cannot do so safely.
