  • Who's welcome at Durham Cycles?

    We offer an inclusive and supportive environment for people who are just getting started or have been riding for years. If you’re a bike snob or a bigot of any fashion, shop elsewhere.

  • Do you take returns?

    We’ve got pretty typical return policies. 7 days for bikes; 30 days for most other things. (There are some exceptions.) As a locally-owned shop, we spend enough time with customers to help them find the right products, so we don’t get many returns.

  • Do you sell used bikes?

    We don’t sell used bikes—with the exception of youth trade-in bikes and an occasional bike from our rental fleet.

  • Do you repair scooters?

    Unfortunately, we don’t service scooters, electrical or manual, at this time.

  • Who owns Durham Cycles?

    While the shop is owned by David L, it couldn’t exist without the entirety of its long-term crew. Meet the full team here.

  • Does Durham Cycles sponsor events?

    We’ve supported a variety of area cycling events and organizations over the years. If you are inquiring about a specific event sponsorship, please email your ask with details and contact information.

  • What's your privacy policy?

    We wouldn’t sell your data even if we knew how to. We use your email to contact you about repairs or to send you newsletters (if you’ve signed up).

  • Are you hiring?

    We always want to hear from people who share are values and passions. During our busy season (March - October) we only consider applicants with bike-shop experience.

  • Do you ship bikes?

    Yes! We use a popular service called BikeFlights to ship bikes for customers. Please give us a call or stop in to discuss arrangements for your bike.

  • Why can't I order online?

    We like to have in-person or phone conversations with customers so that we can ensure the product you’re interested in fits your needs and is the right size. This policy keeps customers happy and reduces returns. After a consultation, payment can be taken remotely and products shipped nationwide.
