The Team Marin is our favorite aluminum hardtail. The Shimano Deore 12-speed drivetrain and the Rock Shox Judy fork, make this a race worthy bike at an entry-level price point. The frame geometry is a little more relaxed than an all-out XC bike, which makes the Team Marin fun and capable even for those without racing ambitions. If racing is your priority, step up to the Team Marin 2, with a premium drivetrain, dropper post, and Fox 34 fork.

We really don't have words to describe the 2024 Norco Optic. It's simply the most sophisticated bike we sell. With travel numbers of 125/140, you might think this is a "mid-travel" trail bike, but the high-pivot, horst link design feels like it has more travel when the terrain needs it and less travel when it doesn't. If you travel frequently between Raleigh-Durham's parks and more aggressive trails, there is no other single bike that will serve you as well on both types of terrain.

The Marin Bobcat Trail 4 is Marin's mid-level Bobcat, packing plenty of fun into a bang-for-bike package. Very much a legit MTB, the Bobcat 4 is stacked with quality kit for off-road adventures and includes an SR/Suntour fork, microSHIFT Advent wide-range 9-speed shifting and Tektro hydraulic brakes.
