When you make the most successful mountain bikes in the world, the term “Entry Level” is a gauntlet thrown down. The Scott Aspect 940 takes up the challenge with rigid, large diameter fork blades, real Shimano disc brakes, and peerless Shimano chainrings. (Other companies may emulate Scott’s pro look, but skimp with flimsy suspension and aftermarket brakes and chainrings.)
Under the radar: The Suntour fork has a lock-out to save energy on smooth sections and the VP pedals provide a wide pedaling platform with plenty of traction.
The Bottom Line: Entry level, but advanced fun.
